Portfolio

Move

Cloud Data Integration

Ingestion, ETL/ELT and application integration services within IDMC for moving and transforming data across clouds and on-premises systems at enterprise scale.

Understand

Cloud Data Catalog and Governance

Metadata cataloging, lineage, business glossary and policy management that make data findable, understandable and accountable across the estate.

Cloud Data Quality and Observability

Profiling, quality rules and monitoring that measure and enforce the fitness of data for analytics and AI workloads.

Master

Master Data Management

Multidomain MDM for customer, product, supplier and reference data — creating governed golden records that downstream systems and AI can rely on.

AI

CLAIRE AI capabilities

Informatica's AI engine assists with classification, mapping recommendations and anomaly detection across the platform, reducing manual stewardship effort.

Scenarios

Situation

AI-ready data foundation

AI initiatives stall because training and grounding data is ungoverned and untrusted.

Approach

Catalog and classify critical data, apply quality rules and lineage, and certify governed datasets for AI consumption.

Value

AI teams build on data the organization can defend, with lineage for audit.

Situation

Customer master data

Every system holds a different version of the customer, blocking service, marketing and analytics.

Approach

Implement multidomain MDM with survivorship rules, stewardship workflows and distribution to consuming systems.

Value

One trusted customer record powering consistent operations and insight.

Situation

Regulatory reporting confidence

Reports to regulators require defensible lineage from source to submission.

Approach

Trace critical report data end to end through catalog and lineage, with quality controls at each hop.

Value

Faster, defensible reporting with evidence for audits.

Situation

Governed self-service

Business teams want self-service data; risk teams fear uncontrolled copies.

Approach

Publish certified, documented datasets through the catalog with access policy attached.

Value

Self-service that accelerates work without losing control.

Evaluating Informatica

Enterprise adoption of Informatica typically spans assessing the data estate, designing the catalog and operating model, implementing quality rules, lineage and MDM domains, integrating with the systems that consume trusted data, and enabling stewards and owners so governance survives beyond the initial project.

FAQ

What does the Salesforce acquisition mean for existing customers?

Informatica continues to operate its IDMC platform and is marketed as Informatica from Salesforce. For joint customers, tighter integration is a likely direction; for others, the platform remains multi-vendor. Tracking the official roadmap and protecting the underlying architecture is recommended either way.

Where should governance efforts start?

With one painful, visible problem — a regulatory report nobody trusts, or a customer record every system disputes. Proving the operating model there, then scaling, tends to work better than a big-bang governance program, which usually stalls.

Does an organization need MDM if it already has a data platform?

They solve different problems. A platform stores and processes data; MDM decides which version of a customer or product is true and governs that decision. Most mature estates need both.

How does Informatica fit with an existing cloud data platform?

IDMC complements platforms like Snowflake rather than competing with them: it catalogs, governs, masters and checks the quality of data wherever it lives, including inside that cloud platform.
